Dimitri Renmans is a FWO post-doctoral research fellow at the Institute of Development Policy (IOB), University of Antwerp. During his PhD research (at the IOB and the Institute of Tropical Medicine, Antwerp) he combined realist evaluation with causal loop diagramming (systems thinking) to study the mechanisms triggered in a performance-based financing intervention in the Ugandan health care sector.

Currently, his research focuses on the combination of realist evaluation with qualitative comparative analysis and the bridge between realist evaluation and science. He teaches ‘monitoring and evaluation’ (incl. realist evaluation) in the Advanced Master of Development Evaluation and Management at the Institute of Development Policy and in the Flemish Inter-university Master of Global Health.
