Pre-conference workshops (Monday 23 March)

On Monday 23 March, before the actual conference starts, two hands-on workshops will be organised, one focusing on realist evaluation and realist research, the second one on realist synthesis.  The workshops targets researchers and evaluators applying or thinking about using RE and/or RS, but also policymakers and research and evaluation commissioners.

Both workshops focus on methodological challenges faced by conference participants who (intend to) use RE or RS. The aim of the workshops is to generate ideas and advice in response to specific methodological challenges. On the basis of a short presentation of the problem and an on the fly analysis by the panellists and other participants, the session will provide peer support to the presenters. Other participants may discover how RE and RS can be applied.

Interested participants register for the workshop and send in a short description of their study/evaluation and a methodological challenge they would like to discuss.

After a short introduction of the workshop process and of the basic principles of RE/RS by the Chair, the floor is given to pre-selected participants. Each presents her initial motivation to use RE/RS and a methodological problem encountered during implementation. This will be followed by a discussion, during which the panel and the public engage the presenter in a brainstorm on how to tackle the challenge. Between 7-10 participants could be selected.

You can register for these workshops through the conference registration system.
